Dunk High SB Retro ‘Doernbecher’ 2019 579603-740

In 2010, Finn Mooney, only 10 years old at the time, had been through 13 heart surgeries. The same year, the Doernbecher Freestyle Project partnered a Nike designer with Mooney to create a shoe to represent his story. Stitches on the Nike Swoosh mimic Mooney’s own stitches, while the heart graphics and words ‘thump thump’ reflect Mooney’s perseverance and strength. The Dunk High SB Retro ‘Doernbecher’ rerelease in April 2019 celebrates 15 years of the project’s initiative created to combat serious illness in children.
